Sookmyung Women’s University has entered into a partnership with Google Cloud, a global leader in the cloud computing market, to enhance its capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) education and research.
The university announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Google Cloud on March 27 at its AI Center in Yongsan, Seoul. The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both sides, including President Moon Si-yeun of Sookmyung Women’s University and Ruth Sun, President of Google Cloud Korea.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate to cultivate AI professionals with practical competencies and to strengthen research and administrative infrastructures.
Sookmyung Women’s University plans to establish a comprehensive institutional framework for advancing AI education and research, centered on its AI Center, which was established in 2025. In collaboration with Google Cloud, the university will also pursue the development and implementation of AI curricula, the promotion of AI research, and the innovation of administrative systems.
The university has already accelerated its AI-driven educational transformation by introducing a mandatory general education course in AI for all students and expanding AI-integrated courses tailored to specific academic disciplines. Through this partnership, it aims to broaden the application of AI across all areas of the university, including education, research, and administration.

Ruth Sun, President of Google Cloud Korea, stated that she is pleased to join Sookmyung Women’s University as it charts a new future in celebration of its 120th anniversary, adding that Google Cloud will work closely with the university to help it set global standards in AI education through a transformative shift in the educational landscape.
President Moon Si-yeun emphasized that, in an era in which AI is fundamentally reshaping educational paradigms, the university’s mission is not merely to follow existing rules but to cultivate “out-thinkers” who lead change through new questions. She further noted that the collaboration with Google Cloud will contribute to nurturing women AI leaders who integrate human-centered values and make positive contributions to society.
