Sookmyung Women's University invited representatives, including the Editor-in-Chief of China Education Press Agency, an educational media outlet under China’s Ministry of Education, to discuss digital education collaboration plans.

The China Education Press Agency, established in 1994, is a leading educational media outlet in China, which publishes the newspaper China Education Daily and the magazine People's Education Press. The media outlet promotes the educational policies of the Chinese Communist Party and highlights figures in the education field.

This recent meeting aimed to introduce our university, which has been making remarkable progress in digital education, to China and to reinforce the partnership in the education field between Korea and China. Sookmyung Women's University currently collaborates under MOUs in various fields, such as student exchange and joint research, with 53 major universities in China, including prestigious institutions like Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Nanjing University.

Present at the meeting were key representatives from China Education Press Agency, including Wang Ruilin, Head of Delegation and Editor-in-Chief for education, sports, and health fields, and Zhao Xiuhong, Editor-in-Chief for basic education field, as well as Ai Hongge, the Minister Counselor for Education from the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Korea. From our university, President Moon Si Yeun, Dean of Soonheon College Shim Jae-woong, and Head of the International Affairs Department Shin Dong-soon joined the meeting.

Head of Delegation Wang Ruilin said, “Our focus on this visit is to foster exchange and cooperation in science and technology with Sookmyung Women’s University. We hope to actively encourage studying in Korea and collaborate through our various media channels under China Education Press Agency.”

President Moon Si Yeun also commented, “Since my inauguration in September, I have been committed to creating educational programs centered around the Korean Wave in the cultural industry and to supporting the operation of our AI Center for female engineering students. We hope we will continue to strengthen our exchanges and encourage outstanding Chinese students to join Sookmyung Women's University.”

In addition, the visitors were introduced to “Snowverse,” the first metaverse platform independently developed by our university in Korea. In 2021, our university recreated its real campus within Snowverse in collaboration with LG Uplus and, starting this year, introduced the platform into mandatory liberal arts courses for 1,200 students, thereby proactively utilizing digital technology in education.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, November 5, Sookmyung Women's University will host a special lecture by Ai Hongge, the Minister Counselor for Education from the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Korea.
